It was logical that the development of cycling should also take in Africa and that it be encouraged by European organizers. For this reason, A.S.O. has committed itself to le Tour of Faso, created in 1987. Le Tour du Faso is the leading cycling event on the African continent and is a professional UCI-classified race, in the 2.5 category, the same as le Tour de l’Avenir. Those who do well notch up precious UCI points and add a line to their professional track record.
