Created in 1903 and now the world’s third biggest sporting event, the Tour de France is a 3 week-long race held in July that attracts the best cyclists from around the globe. Between 20 and 22 teams of 9 racers wind their way across France, sometimes crossing over into neighbouring countries, during the twenty or so stages making up the event, clocking up a total of some 3,500km. 12 million spectators of all ages line the route to cheer on the cyclists and join in the fun with the famous Publicity Caravan. 3.5 billion viewers from 190 countries will be tuning in to follow the cyclists' adventures.
