The international cycling calendar was enriched in 2002 by a new and major competition on the Asian continent, the “Tour of Qatar”, organized enthusiastically and with professionalism by the State of Qatar.

For the first edition, fifteen teams of eight riders featuring the world’s best came to Doha to promote one of the most popular sports on the planet.

After the second edition, disputed at the beginning of 2003, the “Tour of Qatar” has already acquired a reputation of quality amongst European champions, in quest of the sun to set their season rolling.
